TMAATT is dedicated to:

  • Ensuring that each MBATT candidate is taught by experienced licensed clinical instructors who are trained in mindfulness, addiction, and trauma.

  • Ensuring that each class size is small in order to create the ideal atmosphere for learning, growth, and trust. Our MBATT clinicians make life long friends and colleagues from all around the world as they move through each training level.

  • Ensuring that our MBATT Supervising Consultants work closely with each MBATT scholar to help them implement the mindfulness information, materials and tools in their own clinical practice. We want our MBATT scholars to confidently apply what they are learning with the clients they work with.

  • Ensuring that we support each MBATT scholar's growth and interest in applying mindfulness in their personal lives as they wish.

  • Ensuring that we provide a community that fosters collaboration, support and kindness so that every candidate feels connected not only during the training, but long after you have completed the MBATT certification.

 The MBATT Certification
Training Levels

The MBATT Certification Training is organized into three levels of researched based training designed to teach the therapist how to incorporate mindfulness based information and materials, research based tools and practices into the therapist’s addiction and trauma therapy work in order to help clients gain long term recovery.

There are three training levels for the MBATT certification, with the clinician completing the training levels and MBATT consulting within a two-year period in order to qualify for the MBATT certification.

The next Level I training is facilitated online on the following dates (west coast time zone):
October 4th, 2024 8:30-4:30 PST

October 5th, 2024 8:30-4:30 PST

October 6th, 2024 8:30-12:30 PST

Attendance Requirements for Level I: In order to attend the MBATT level I training, the clinician must complete the TMAATT registration and submit the required paperwork for verification and approval.

Level II is self paced and facilitated via the TMAATT website portal. There are 8 training domains in Level II consisting of a 1 hour training video, each of the 8 domains are taught by a mindfulness based therapist, and include a practice worksheet that supports the training video. A MBATT consulting supervisor will work with the MBATT scholar in order to provide support as the scholar moves through the 8 training domains. Level II may be taken over 8 weeks minimally, and no more than 16 weeks. The MBATT scholar will complete each video, practice the coordinating worksheet/exercises, and attend an hour of MBATT consulting supervision per each training domain, for a total of 8 hours of consulting supervision before moving on to Level III.

Additionally, there are 8 bi-monthly Zoom 90-minute training support groups led by founder Darrin Ford that are facilitated twice a month during the 16 week Level II training (see above dates). The groups are scheduled every other Friday per month for all TMATT scholars during Level II. These groups are included in the Level II registration fee, and there is no additional charge for the bi-monthly groups. It is not mandatory for TMAATT scholars to attend all or any of the bi-monthly groups, they are available as an additional support during the Level II training time period. MBATTs and MBRC Scholars are invited to participate in the Level II Zoom support training groups. NOTE: if you are an MBATT scholar seeking CEU credit for Level II, attendance at all 8 Level II training support groups is mandatory. Failure to attend any of the 8 Level II training support groups or any part of the sessions will still result in TMAATT credit for Level II, but eligibility for CEU credit will be forfeited in accordance with the CEU policy.

Please Note: The course work for level II takes into consideration that most of our MBATTs are working clinicians with busy personal and professional lives, thus we have organized the training into manageable weekly components.

Consultant Requirements for Level II: In order to attend the online level II training, the MBATT scholar must complete level I. 8 hours of consulting with an MBATT consulting supervisor are required during level II training and prior to attending level III. The Consulting Supervision hours can be started anytime after attending level I.

The next Level II training date starts: February 5th, 2024
