Mindfulness Based Addiction Trauma Therapist (MBATT) Online Training Certification Overview

There are three MBATT certification training distinctions for therapists

The MBATT certification training is organized in to three levels of researched-based training.
Each training level is designed to teach the mental health professional how to incorporate
mindfulness-based information, materials, tools and practices in to their addiction and trauma therapy work
in order to help clients gain long term recovery and reduce trauma.

  1. Mindfulness Based Addiction Trauma Therapist Training Online Certification or the “MBATT”

    This is awarded to master or doctoral level clinical mental health professionals, including Psychologists, Psychiatrists, LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCs.

    The candidate will be awarded the MBATT upon completion, verification and approval of the following:

  • Completing the three MBATT training levels

    - All levels will be completed online

  • 20 hours of MBATT Consulting Supervision

    - This is reduced to 10 hours for certified CSAT and CPTT Therapists

  • Submission of the TMAATT application and fee

  • Recommendation from your MBATT Consulting Supervisor

  • Two letters of recommendation from clinical peers



2. Mindfulness Based Addiction Trauma Therapist Associate or “MBATT-A”

This is awarded to post graduate, pre-licensed mental health professionals, including Psychologists, Psychiatrists, LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCs. 

The candidate will be awarded the MBATT upon completion, verification and approval of the following:

  • Completing the three training levels

    - All levels completed online 

  • 20 hours of Consulting

    - This is reduced to 10 hours for certified CSAT and CPTT Therapists

  • Submission of the TMAATT application and fee

  • Recommendation from your MBATT Consulting Supervisor

  • Two letters of recommendation from clinical peers

  • A letter of recommendation from your primary licensing supervisor

NOTE: Once the MBATT associate has completed the above, and has obtained their professional clinical license, they may then submit the TMAATT application and fee. Upon approval, scholar will then graduate from the MBATT-A to the MBATT.

 
 
 

 

3. Mindfulness Based Addiction Trauma Therapist Supervisor or “MBATT-CS”

This is awarded to master or doctoral level clinical mental health professionals, including Psychologists, Psychiatrists, LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCs who:

  • Is a licensed mental health professional in good standing 

  • Has been a MBATT certified therapist for a minimum of 2 years

  • Clinically skilled in Addiction and Trauma work

  • Consistently participates in mindfulness 

  • Has a mindfulness based therapy practice 

  • Has consulted associates for a minimum of 4 years 

  • Has completed the MBATT-CS Consulting Supervisor Training Course

  • Has met with a MBATT Consulting Supervisor for 5 Consulting Hours 

  • Has submitted the TMAATT application, fee, and upon verification and approval will be awarded the MBATT-CS. 


 

MBATT Certification CEU Renewal Information

Each MBATT designation will require 6 training CEUs every two years to renew certification.

CEUs can be obtained through The Mindfulness Academy for Addiction & Trauma Training (TMAATT) in one of three ways:

  1. Attend a TMAATT refresher online training

  2. Attend an online class through TMAATT 

  3. Attend the TMAATT annual weekend retreat COMING SOON!

  4. Work with TMAATT Consulting Supervisor for 6 hours over the 2 years.
